Exhibition of art and domestic archaeology; workshop on cat tales

Moving House is the final part of a three-year project called Leave-Home-Stay, which brings together art, archaeology, architecture, reportage, and storytelling. Inspired by a modest Victorian family house in the suburban seaside of Deal, Kent, this project highlights the emotions our homes arouse, especially in this time of upheaval. From a simple decision - to stay in a family home or sell up - this project considers the life stories built into bricks and mortar. It will include new photography and art works, and an exhibition charting the evolution of the project, and visitor responses to it, from the excavated room of year one, to the mantel piece narratives of last year. There will also be an art film installation the garden, weather permitting. The family event,'Felines', will invite participants to muse on - and make art or write about - the pre-history of a stray cat, an unexpected addition to the house; and the marks pets leave of their movement through domestic space.
